Concussion in Wrestling Event at Loughborough University

Concussion in Wrestling Event at Loughborough University

In June 2023 we hosted a follow on event from the first parliamentary conference on professional wrestling last November. During the parliamentary event many in the wrestling community shared that they wanted to know more about concussion: how to identify it and how the issues in wrestling might be compared to concerns in other sports. Hosting this at Loughborough University, the world’s best university for sports-related subjects, was particularly notable: here was wrestling brought into a specific sports’ context. The conference was addressed by Alex Davies-Jones MP (co-chair of the APPG on Wrestling), Dominic Malcolm (Professor of Sociology of Sport at Loughborough), Kerry Glendon (Lead Physiotherapist for Loughborough Sport and current doctoral candidate in the School of Sport, Health and Exercise at Loughborough) and Michael Grey (Reader in Rehabilitation Neuroscience at UEA). The team will make the materials available free of charge for any interested parties. If any promoter, trainer, wrestler or medic would like to know more about ways of dealing with concussion please don’t hesitate to contact the team for more information.
